Making his first appearance in X-Men #1 of September 1963, Iceman was created as a counterpart to Human Torch, utilising essentially the same powers but with the opposite element, allowing him to instantly freeze water vapour in the environment and form the ice to his will. To this day, Iceman remains a mainstay character in the X-Men comic series and the X-Men movie series.
